Rochester, United States – A striking solar halo appeared over Rochester, New York, on March 25, 2026, creating a bright, glowing 22-degree ring of light around the sun.
The phenomenon was captured by Joseph Frascati while plane-spotting on a cool day. A Delta aircraft flew directly through the center of the halo, its silhouette sharply contrasting against the luminous circle.
The optical effect was caused by ice crystals in high-altitude clouds refracting sunlight, producing a vivid display in the clear blue sky.
The scene was described as “cool day but that amazing SunHalo or SolarHalo is back with outstanding image. Delta crossing path with it on the way to Atlanta”.
