Telly Award-winning artist, author, and speaker Jennifer Shaw is donating a portion of the sales of her #1 Amazon best-selling children’s book “Dumplings Mean Family” to Open Hearts for Orphans. The proceeds will assist the non-profit organization to educate children at their Uganda orphanage. “We are so thankful for the opportunity to share this beautiful new book with our supporters,” says Lisa Murphy, CEO of Open Hearts for Orphans. “We are even more thankful that Jennifer Shaw has chosen to donate a portion of the royalties to bless vulnerable children." “I am thrilled to be partnering with Open Hearts for Orphans on their educational initiative,” says Shaw. “Their program to help orphaned children access medical care, food, and education are literally life- saving, and align so closely with my heart. I am excited that we are able to use our book to help children in need.” Shaw was challenged as a mother when her youngest biological son, Toby, was diagnosed with a severe case of Sensory Processing Disorder, but nothing really prepared her for adopting three children from China with medical issues, ages 6-9, in the span of 15 months. Published in partnership with Madison Adoption Associates and Compassion International, “Dumplings Mean Family” is the true story of how one of Shaw’s newly-adopted sons, Ethan, wanted to have authentic Chinese food for dinner. The story is told from a child’s perspective about how the Shaws learned to incorporate their adopted children’s culture into their family to help them feel at home, and how families can help offer adopted children a sense of belonging
