A judge sentences a guilty offender to a punishment that fits the crime – but Jesus allowed Himself to be sentenced to death to suffer the punishment for OUR offenses against an infinitely holy God. Even though He committed no wrongdoing, Jesus received the unjust sentence of death by crucifixion, in order that we who trust in Him might live forever.
