“remember that you were at that time separated from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world.”
– Ephesians 2:12
The question that must be asked of us is, are we sufficiently concerned for those who are lost and without Christ? Paul asked the Ephesians (and us by virtue of our having the letter) to remember their life before Christ.“Separated from Christ” means “having no hope and without God in the world.” We can tell ourselves many things that lessen the painful thought that people we love and cherish are “separated from Christ” and therefore “have no hope and without God in the world”.
