Youth suicide is one of the LEADING causes of death of young people.
Here in Tennessee Suicide is the SECOND leading cause of death for kids ages 10-14, and it's the THIRD leading cause of death for all people between 10 and 24 years old.
The Jason Foundation believes that awareness and education are the first steps to suicide prevention. In this episode Clark Flatt, Founder and President of The Jason Foundation, tells his heartbreaking story of his son's suicide, which moved him to create the non-profit. He also talks about what they're doing to help make people aware of the issue and educate them about what to look for, and how to get help. Including their "A Friend Asks" App which is FREE!! The app includes how to help a friend, what TO do and what NOT to do, and resources for help.
