Benedicto Kananza is the Chief Strategy Officer at Finance and Business Advisory International. Previously, he worked as Deputy Managing Director of Nedbank Malawi, where he was also Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer. He has 22 years of professional experience, 5 of which were spent in the manufacturing sector and 17 in the banking and finance sector. 

He is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), and also holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from University of Derby.

At the core of his personality, Kombo is passionate about the education of the rural masses and the building of local enterprises that have the capacity to unleash the hidden productivity (potential) for Rural Africa.

In this Episode I talk to Njabulo Ngidi, a talented and passionate son of Africa. We discuss purpose, youth development, intentional destiny alignment, breaking barriers to progress, patience, and generational wealth.

Most people are comfortable with defining leadership as the process by which we direct, guide and influence the behavior and work of others towards accomplishment of specific goals. However, when we reflect on the term 'self-leadership', most of us fail to convert the same leading power towards ourselves. 

Self-leadership is "the practice of intentionally influencing your thinking, feeling and actions towards your objective/s". (Bryant and Kazan 2012).

In this fifth and last episode in the Entrepreneurship Agenda Series, we discuss the Big Business Idea. With a narrative of small business proliferation in Malawi and many developing economies, it sounds almost impossible to dream of creating a big business. However, looking back at our progressive entrepreneurial discussions, we can see that knowledge holds the major key to our mindset shift - moving us from a place of insignificance to a platform of community strength. By coming together, we can do more - and indeed, we can build big local businesses.

In this fourth Episode of the Entrepreneurship Agenda Series, we discuss the impact of family businesses in the economic advancement of our nation, and how we can overcome the customary 'trust issues' among local families. 

It is evident that most African countries don't fair well on the generational family business index partly due to the inadequate involvement of children or siblings in one's business enterprise. The common experience is that good businesses (unfortunately) close doors when the founding member dies. But how can we borrow a leaf from some of the Western, Middle Eastern and Asian entrepreneurial families and make this agenda work on the home turf?
