History Explains It All

Suleiman The Magnificent

Listen Later

This week we are taking a look at another great ruler from history: Suleiman the Magnificent. He ruled over the Ottoman Empire from 1520-1566 and made many changes in law that benefited the people under him. He believed that tolerance of beliefs and religion were key to holding an empire together. He allowed people outside of the Ottoman Empire to take part in his artisan schools. His favorite wife was the daughter of a Polish priest. There may even be truth to the story of his heart being buried! Join us as we look at the life, reign and legend that is Suleiman I.
