Sully - Hudson River Crash

US Airways Flight 1549, an Airbus A320, experienced a dual-engine failure due to a bird strike shortly after take-off from LaGuardia Airport on 15 January 2009. Under the command of Captain Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger and First Officer Jeffrey Skiles, the crew successfully performed an unpowered ditching in the Hudson River, near Midtown Manhattan. All 155 occupants survived, with 100 sustaining injuries, 5 of which were serious. The incident, widely known as the "Miracle on the Hudson," has been hailed as "the most successful ditching in aviation history" by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) due to the exemplary crew performance, prompt rescue efforts, and the inherent safety features of the aircraft.
