Sulu Fitzpatrick was a key member of the Silver Ferns team that beat Australia last Sunday, in the fourth and final game of the Constellation Cup, sealing a series win for the New Zealand team, the first in nearly a decade of trans-Tasman rivalry.

Tama’itai Samoa.. The type of woman wyou are.. Representing our people.  The strapping defender stood out on the netball court not just for her defence but also for the distinctive “malu” the traditional Samoan tattoo that adorns her thighs.  The jubilant celebrations as the final whistle blew was the latest peak of a life and a career full of the highest highs punctuated by the lowest lows where she battled with depression and alcohol.
