Romance with a touch of mystery and suspense

Wow, is all I can say. If you have not read the other 2 books, Winter and Spring, you can still start with this book. You will not be lost and it might just encourage you to read the others. This story, at first, appears to be another good girl from the right side of the tracks falls in love with bad boy from the wrong side of the tracks. While that is part of it, there is just so much more to this story. The blurb does not give it justice.

Rose Burton is a strong, independent young woman who has a love of life and a desire to show that she is capable of being a mature adult. Unfortunately her parents do not really feel the same way. Part of their attitude is understandable and you find yourself thinking âwake up and see that you are driving her awayâ. Marcus Vega is a young man with a lot of brains and compassion, just not your typical bad boy. In fact even though he lived on the wrong side of the tracks, he is not a bad boy at all. But you cannot convince Roseâs father of that. I will end this here as to not give any spoilers.

One of the things I like best about Ciara Knightâs Sweetwater County books is that there is a strong sense of community and a glimpse of small town life. Her characters are just like people you meet in real life with all of the human flaws that people have. If you like a good romance that has some mystery and suspense, this is the story for you.

Well-written...Genuine and Realistic

This book has a very different tone than the âWinterââ and âSpringââ books. Knight writes about poverty, prejudice, and gang violence. This brings a lot of realism to the Sweetwater series. There is no county untouched by these things. I applaude her for calling attention to these somber, grittier topics rather than writing the entire series through rose colored glasses.

The story is centered around the young love between Marcus and Rose. While Marcus lives on âthe wrong side of the bridge,â Rose lives in the luxury that money can buy. To be together, they must find a way to get past the local corruption, prejudices, and the threat of gang retaliation.

Knight skillfully writes a story that is thought provoking and filled with suspense. The way she weaves these topics into the Sweetwater series is clever and genuine. I feel that this book is well written, and I give it 5 stars.

wonderful series

I really love all the characters in Sweetwater County, and especially the way Ciara Knight interweaves them throughout all the books. As a reader, it really feels as if youâre a part of the town and catching up on all the characters from the previous books as well. This installment deals with a young couple, Marcus and Rose. They have a sweet relationship that just warms the heart.
