Summer In The Psalms #8 - The Time Of Our Lives // Chris Holm

Listen Later

Sermon Summary:Moses wrote Psalm 90 from a unique perspective on time after spending forty years in obscurity as a shepherd before God called him to lead Israel out of Egypt. This wisdom psalm teaches us that understanding time requires the proper context: God's eternal perspective from everlasting to everlasting. We live in a time-conscious culture, constantly checking our watches and phones, yet this reminds us that our time is running out. As we age, time seems to accelerate because each year represents a smaller fraction of our total existence. Eventually, we shift from thinking about how old we are to considering how much time we have left.Moses reveals that our brief lives, like grass that springs up in the morning and withers by evening, only gain meaning when connected to God's eternal story. This story centers on God's kingdom breaking into our broken world through Jesus, who demonstrated what reality looks like when God truly reigns. As followers of Jesus, we become kingdom citizens commissioned to bring heaven's reality to earth in our marriages, parenting, work, and communities. The psalm's central prayer asks God to "teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom." Numbering our days means recognizing our finite time and using it to advance God's kingdom. This wisdom transforms our decision-making in finances, relationships, and career choices. We can leave an inheritance that extends beyond money to our children's children by building character, wisdom, and kingdom values into the next generation. One generation of faithful kingdom living can break cycles of dysfunction and establish patterns of blessing that echo through multiple generations.URF WEBSITE: ➤ http://www.urfellowship.comSOCIALS: ➤ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/urfellowship/➤ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/urfellowship
