Life in Israel, unfortunately, has entailed the need to sacrifice one’s own life or that of beloved ones. From the early pre-state years to the latest literary reaction to terror, Israeli poets have expressed grief as well as criticism at the loss of young life. Works by, Shaul Tchernichovski, Haim Guri, Avraham Halfi, Arye Sivan, Asher Reich, Nathan Alterman and Eliaz Cohen will be brought into a mosaic reflecting a developing message over almost an entire century.
