With Summer officially beginning and the temperatures rising, Charlie's prediction of a fall in hog kill submissions seems to be correct so far. With farm crops reaching peak growth and spring rains keeping the landscape green and healthy, it is a perfect environment for hog population growth throughout much of the south. May produced some big numbers in hogs killed, but it seems hogs have found sanctuary in dense forest, brush and farm land to thrive on easy meals and evade hunters no matter their efforts. With numbers of kills falling off drastically in June, and quite possibly all throughout the summer, Charlie fears previous efforts to decrease population numbers may go to waste if hogs can continue to roam carelessly and breed without hunter interference. With populations still being at an all time high, Charlie focuses on ways to incentivize the eradication of hogs through the hog hunting tournaments as well as ideas to help put wild pork meat to good use for those who can use it.
