Tom Finnemore shares a second Bible message from Colossians in our autumn series “Transition Time: Embracing the New Normal”.
Bible base: Colossians 1:24-2:5 – To navigate the ‘new normal’ is to be anchored in grace
This week we’re thinking about why being ‘anchored in grace is so important as we adjust to living in the new normal. It’s vital to remember the power of God’s grace in such uncertain times.
If you can read the whole of Colossians at some point (takes about 20 minutes) that would be a good idea. In chapter 1 Paul reveals his heart for the church: his longing is that the church knows the amazing riches they have in Christ; the power of Jesus and his deep gratitude for them.
* As you read through Colossians 1:24-2:5 what strikes you? Check out verse 28. Paul’s talking about attaining maturity – what might that look like in these times?
* In 2:2 Paul states ‘my goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love’ – what does that mean you? In these times of restrictions – how can we remain ‘united’ in love? How does this work for you? What have you got in place? Why not share and swap ideas?
* What lessons can we take from this and how might we apply them?
Take time to pray!
