Ambient Noodlings

Sunday Ambient #103

Listen Later

Happy Sunday! Today I have an ambient jam that’s a bit more jammy than usual. Part of the modular synth experience is stumbling upon happy accidents. I started with the drum beat and just built on top of it, with no particular idea in mind. I experimented with new ways of patching things and ended up discovering a bass-heavy groove that’s sure to make cheap speakers rattle. I added in some bleeps and bloops, along with some glitchy madness to get…cyberpunk rave? Whatever it is, I like it and hopefully you will too.

Patch Notes

Yeah…what the heck is even going on here? Let’s see, 4MS STS is playing a kick drum sample. After that, things get a little fuzzy. :) Pam’s drives the clock for every thing. Dice provides pitch to the E350 for the melodic bleeps & bloops. Maths envelopes the E350. Plaits goes into Rings, where it gets tossed around harmonically via modulation to Rings’ Structure input and ends up sounding like a weird bass line (didn’t expect that!) Chaos and Octasource (set to S&H wave) modulate stuff. Mimeophon does the delay and uBurst adds some glitchy chaos. FX Aid does the Black Hole reverb.
