Ambient Noodlings

Sunday Ambient #107

Listen Later

Happy Sunday! Time for some groovy ambient jams! I’ve got a laid back beat going in today’s jam that I found relaxing to sit back and listen to for a while. I’ve been doing more rhythmic stuff with my modular rig lately, which is probably a natural byproduct of playing drums again. Grab some headphones and chill for a while!

Patch Notes

Geeky stuff going on today. I managed to score a couple of modules in Xaoc’s Leibniz series. They work on the concept of making music with 8-bit binary data. Here I’m generating the drum triggers entirely from what is essentially a binary counter, where each bit position becomes a trigger for a drum voice. This stuff is perfect for the engineering side of my brain!

Moskwa II is doing the sequencing, clocked by Pams. I’m also using Pams to clock the binary counter, Octasource, and Mimeophon, in addition to doing some occasional note repeats on the Moskwa. QD Drum is triggered by bits on from Erfurt, with Lipsk providing some variance to the clock position. The E350 is the melodic voice, driven by Moskwa, enveloped by Maths, and VCA through Tangle Quartet. Popple provides some filtering. Mimeophon does the delay and FX Aid does the reverb. Chaos and Octasource modulate or trigger stuff.
