The way to everlasting happiness.

Who does not want it but now how to achieve it?  This quest dominates Sunday's readings.  The book of wisdom helps us to answer this question.

Lord, grant us the grace to recognize that everything is 'gift' and that by ourselves, there is really nothing we can be proud of.

Christ invites us to 'enter the narrow' door, which is not a 'passage that entails following rites and rituals.' He rather invites us to a way of life that involves growth in our relationship with a loving and merciful God who wants all to be saved.

Lord, I am weak, come to my aid.

Sunday's readings present examples of divisions caused by the presence of God in society.  In faith, we are asked to choose: the division from sin and alignment to faith.  It is not easy but the Lord and all the saints are here to help us.  Heaven is our reward.

The readings invite us to learn discernment, to ask ourselves what is my relationship with material goods. How do I balance this relationship and learn how to be 'rich in what matters to God' as I journey in this life.

Grace in Wickedness

The readings are quite pragmatic in describing evil and wickedness are powerfully present in the world.  Thankfully we have God's grace protecting those who draw upon it through prayer.  Come and pray the Our Father for God's grace.

Our Parish celebration of the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel is extended up to July 20 hence we take the readings from the Liturgy of this Feast.

"Do whatever he tells you," is Mother Mary's word to all of us: listen to Jesus and follow his word and you will experience the fullness of life.

Rely on the Lord

This 14th Sunday calls our attention to the need for complete dependence on God, which leads to a positive transformation in our lives. The dependence expresses itself through the attitudes of hope, faith and loving generosity described in the readings. Our names are written in heaven.

On the feast day of Saint Peter and Paul, we read about two very human saints sharing their journey in faith.  Whilst it was not easy, their trust in the Lord saved them.
