Sunday Sermon

Listen Later

Here’s today 19 min sermon

Here are some takeaways:

* connection. We commit to connect with God and with each other.

How many times Paul wrote each phrase:

“our Lord”: 53

“my Lord”: 1

Christianity is communal. You are not a free agent. Invest in your church family.

We want people that are know as folks that are That  graceful, merciful and wise. Person that knows how to navigate around the drama triangle, a person that has a healthy attachment style and 5:1 relationship ratio maybe 7:1 person

Drama Triagle

"They are stronger, kinder, happier, more radiant. They do not draw attention to themselves. They love you more than other men do, but they need you less.- C.S. Lewis describing healthy Christians in Mere Christianity.

I never found a home in Fundamentalism. I am grateful. I am far more at home in the company and fellowship of all the exiles. With Ezekiel, I choose to sit where they sit, mourn where they mourn, and pray where they pray.- Mark Chironna

(Ezek 3:15) "Then I came to them of the captivity at Telabib, that dwelt by the river of Chebar, and I sat where they sat, and remained there astonished among them seven days.

Value: Christ-Centered

* We are convicted & convinced that Jesus must be the center of everything in our lives

* We are convicted & Convinced that His life, death, burial, and resurrection would form and inform every sector of who we are

The Lord has challenged me to spend most of my ministry declaring the glory, greatness, and grandeur of Christ. I’ve heard old sermons of mine when I barely mention Christ named and it makes me wince and repent. I’ve been in services where Jesus was mentioned once…

Put that against the life, ministry, and writings of the apostle Paul (who I’ve been studying)

Eph 1 in 23 verses he mentions Christ more than 20+ times

Phil 1 in 30 verses he mentions Christ more than 20 times

Col 1 in 30 verses mentions Christ more than 25x

The truth of the faith can be preserved only by doing a theology of Jesus Christ, and by redoing it over and over again. —KARL RAHNER

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair

“Are you not thirsty?” said the Lion.

“I am dying of thirst,” said Jill.

“Then drink.”

“I daren’t come and drink.”

“Then you will die of thirst,” said the Lion.

“Oh dear!” said Jill. “I suppose I must go look for another stream then.”

“There is no other stream,” said the Lion.

As we center Christ and the word of God will begin to discern the will of God. Impressions from the Lord will always be in harmony with Scripture. It will never contradict it. The Lord’s present speaking will always be consistent with what He’s said in the past. More specifically It will be redemptive and, it will bear the marks of giving and self-sacrifice, which is love—The love of the greatest commandment thats the love that fulfills the Law and the Prophets.

"They are stronger, kinder, happier, more radiant. They do not draw attention to themselves. They love you more than other men do, but they need you less.”

C.C. Lewis describes healthy Christians in Mere Christianity.

The last thing you should do is worry about when you’ll die.  Instead, focus on how you will live.
