Today we're opening our Bibles to Luke Chapter 8, and this chapter takes us on quite a journey.

Jesus teaches about seeds and soil. He crosses a lake and encounters a violent storm.

He meets a man whose life has been overtaken by evil. He encounters a woman who has suffered for twelve years.

And finally, He walks into a home where a family has experienced the unimaginable. Yet through every scene runs one message:

Jesus can be trusted.

Because Luke Chapter 7 takes us into several encounters with Jesus.

And each one reveals something about Him. A Roman centurion discovers the authority of Jesus.

A grieving widow experiences the compassion of Jesus. John the Baptist wrestles with questions and receives the reassurance of Jesus. And a woman with a broken reputation discovers the forgiveness of Jesus.

Different people. Different circumstances. Different needs. But the same Jesus. And perhaps that is the message we need today:

Whatever brought you here, Jesus is able to meet you there.

Today, Luke chapter 6 takes us deeper. Jesus begins showing us what following Him actually looks like.

And some of what He says is comforting. Some is encouraging. And some...

if we're listening carefully...is downright challenging.

Jesus tells us: Love your enemies. Do good to those who hate you. Bless those who curse you. Pray for those who mistreat you.

Do not judge. Forgive. Give. And examine your own heart before criticizing someone else's.

Today, in Luke chapter 5, Jesus begins calling people to join Him. And what I love about this chapter is the kind of people Jesus calls. They're not perfect. They're not powerful. They're not religious celebrities. They're fishermen. A tax collector. A man with leprosy. A paralyzed man carried by his friends. Ordinary... hurting... imperfect people. People like us. And through them, Luke teaches us a beautiful truth: Jesus doesn't wait for us to become extraordinary before He calls us. He calls ordinary people...and then His grace begins doing extraordinary things through them.

Now we come to Luke chapter 4.

And almost immediately, everything changes.

Jesus goes from the waters of baptism...

to the wilderness of temptation.

From the approval of the Father...

to the attacks of the devil.

From being celebrated by crowds...

to being rejected by His own hometown.

And yet through it all, Jesus remains faithful to His mission.

Luke chapter 4 asks us some important questions:

What do we do when temptation comes?

What happens when following God leads us into difficult places?

And are we willing to follow Jesus when His message challenges what we want to hear?

Today we discover that the same Jesus who defeated temptation in the wilderness is still able to give us strength in our wilderness moments.

In Luke chapter 2, the Savior was born. Angels sang. Shepherds worshiped. Simeon rejoiced. Anna praised God.

And now, in Luke chapter 3, roughly thirty years have passed. The baby in Bethlehem has grown. John the Baptist has grown.

And God's plan of salvation is about to burst into public view. But before Jesus begins His ministry, someone must prepare the way. His name is John. And his message is simple, direct, and sometimes uncomfortable:

Prepare your heart.

Turn toward God.

The Messiah is coming.

So today, let's travel into the wilderness and listen again to the voice crying out:

"Prepare the way for the Lord."

Today, we arrive at one of the most beloved chapters in all of Scripture.

Luke chapter 2.

These words have echoed through churches, homes, and hearts for nearly two thousand years.

But today, let's slow down.

Instead of rushing through a familiar Christmas story, let's experience it again with fresh eyes.

Because this chapter is not simply about a baby in a manger.

It is about God stepping into human history.

The Creator entering creation.

The King of Heaven becoming one of us.

Today, we begin a new journey—one chapter at a time through the Gospel of Luke.

Luke was a physician, a careful historian, and a gifted storyteller. He tells us that he investigated everything carefully so that his readers could know with certainty the truth about Jesus Christ.

His Gospel is filled with compassion, hope, joy, and the amazing grace of God.

Today, in Luke chapter one, we discover that before Jesus was born, God was already quietly at work, preparing hearts and fulfilling promises made centuries before.

This chapter reminds us that even when God seems silent...

He is never absent.

Today we come to the final chapter of Matthew's Gospel.

For months we have walked beside Jesus.

We watched Him call fishermen.

Heal the sick.

Calm storms.

Feed thousands.

Teach through parables.

Challenge religious leaders.

Carry His cross.

And finally...

lay down His life.

Today...

everything changes.

Because the tomb...

is empty.

And because the tomb is empty...

our lives can never be the same.

Matthew chapter 27.

This is Good Friday.

It is a chapter filled with betrayal...

false accusations...

suffering...

darkness...

and death.

Yet it is also the chapter where we discover the greatest expression of love the world has ever known.

Because the Cross was never God's backup plan.

The Cross was God's rescue plan.
