Sunland Park to Gain First Full-Time Food Pantry: A $719,338 State Grant Funds New FacilitySunland Park is set to receive its first full-time food pantry, thanks to a $719,338 state grant. This funding, from the New Mexico Department of Finance and Administration’s Capital Development Program, completes the project and allows the pantry to open as a partnership between the city and Casa de Peregrinos. The new facility, located at 3465 McNutt Road, will offer indoor and drive-through food distribution, as well as space for other community services. The pantry will address the growing need for food assistance in Sunland Park, where nearly half of the population lives at or below the poverty level. Construction is expected to begin within the next 30-45 days, with completion by fall 2026. Casa de Peregrinos will manage the pantry under a long-term lease agreement.
