Bhisham Sahni (8 August 1915 – 11 July 2003) was an Indian writer, playwright, poet in Hindi and an actor and director in Hindi Cinema. He was awarded the Padma Bhushan for literature in 1998, and Sahitya Akademi Fellowship in 2002.
Born in Rawalpindi in 1915, Bhisham did his graduation and MA in English Literature from a government college in Lahore. He joined the struggle for Independence and post partition he started working as a teacher in Amritsar and later came to Delhi University as a professor in Literature. Bhisham Sahni was one of the most prolific writers of Hindi literature. We are proud to present one of his short stories 'Mata Vimata', a tale of two mothers and one child.
