Sonic and Pikachu paved the way. It's time for the most popular video game franchise of all time to get the film it deserves. Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, Toad, and Bowser may have shown up in the 1993 Hoskins/Leguizamo joint...But to say fans were unsatisfied would be an understatement. With one of the most unreal video game worlds imaginable, protagonists that walk a line between kitsch and stereotype, and superpowers that would make The Avengers groan, a fully faithful adaptation seems destined to fail.  So yeah, of course, we're all-in on a fully faithful reboot. What'd you think we were gonna do, a post-apocalyptic cyberpunk body horror version or something?
