The third topic of this week's Weekly Top 3 was briefly to discuss a debate that was happening Tuesday evening, after we taped the show. As we explained there, the debate, hosted by Alaska Common Ground, featured a series of mini-debates, focused on four issues: making substantial additional budget cuts, relying even more on Permanent Fund earnings, reinstating broad-based taxes, and raising oil taxes.Each issue was argued by a proponent and opponent, who were given five minutes each to present their views, followed by a question. We made the case for reinstating broad-based taxes. The cut here is of our presentation and the following question.
