In today's episode, Urban Fungus shares his inspiration that shaped two projects he has been working on, origins of him coming across an ancient Greek instrument and future projects of the band.
Urban Fungus aka Petr Danda is a Czech architect and musician interested in psychedelic music.
His main project, in a classic band formation, could be labeled as hazy, sun-infused psychedelic rock, and combines introspective songwriting with fuzzy clouds full of reverb & delays. In late 2024, he released his first single Come Along, followed up by the EP One More Pill. With his Czech bandmates, he plans to record an album in the summer.
His side project, labeled Bouzouki Dub, is inspired by Near, Middle & Far Eastern traditional and contemporary music: Oriental and psychedelic melodies strummed on a traditional greek instrument - the Bouzouki - plugged in through a vast array of guitar pedals and accompanied by dubby electronic drums and heavy bass. An electronic music aesthetic that could probably be heard in ancient temple parties, well probably.
