Having gone through a personal struggle with mental health during my college years, I vividly understand the importance of nurturing and supporting the mental health of our children. It's an under-discussed but crucial topic that often gets overlooked. As we recently commemorated World Mental Health Day, we found it only fitting to dedicate an entire episode to this subject. Our guest, child and adolescent psychiatrist Dr. Megan Campbell, offers indispensable advice that's not just for parents, but anyone who plays a role in a young person's life.
Dr. Campbell provides us with four significant insights on how to support children's mental health. She stresses the importance of turning setbacks into learning opportunities, celebrating the process and not just the outcome, and nurturing passions and strengths to boost confidence. Perhaps most importantly, she emphasizes on cultivating perseverance in children to build their resilience. These are not just tips - they're lifelines! This conversation is sure to empower you with the resources and understanding necessary to assist the children in your life on their mental health journey.
