Paul continues the theme of the supremacy of Christ in Chapter 2 of Colossians, only the theme becomes even more personal. Not only is Jesus supreme over eternity, creation, and the church, but Jesus is also supreme over our lives. Paul calls us to walk in Jesus just as we received him, not as worthy recipients but as needy beggars. The irony is that we come as needy beggars; we are freely given the grace that we so desperately need and the security of having our lives ruled and governed by the supremacy of Jesus.
