Surah Al-Zalzalah (Arabic text: الزلزلة‎) is the 99th chapter of the Qur’an. Also commonly referred to as Zilzal or Az-Zilzal. The surah titled in English means “The Earthquake” and it consists of 8 verses.

About this surah:
This Surah begins with a description of the Day of Judgment, the Earth will give off a terrible earthquake and “throw up her burdens” and people will be “separated [into categories] to be shown [the result of] their deeds.” The surah tells us, the complete track record will be shown, and it will be so detailed that not an atom’s weight of any good or evil act will be left unnoticed.

Bismillaahir Rahmaanir Raheem.
بِسْمِ اللَّـهِ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

1.Izaa zulzilatil-ardu zilzaa lahaa.
إِذَا زُلْزِلَتِ الْأَرْضُ زِلْزَالَهَا
1. When the earth is shaken with its (final) earthquake.

2. Wa akhrajatil-ardu asqaa lahaa.
وَأَخْرَجَتِ الْأَرْضُ أَثْقَالَهَا
2. And when the earth throws out its burdens,

3. Wa qaalal-insaanu maa lahaa.
وَقَالَ الْإِنْسَانُ مَا لَهَا
3. And man will say: "What is the matter with it?"

4. Yawma’izin tuhaddisu akhbaarahaa.
يَوْمَئِذٍ تُحَدِّثُ أَخْبَارَهَا
4. That Day it will declare its information (about all what happened over it of good or evil).

5. Bi-anna Rabbaka awhaa lahaa.
بِأَنَّ رَبَّكَ أَوْحَىٰ لَهَا
5. Because your Lord has inspired it.

6. Yawma’iziny-yasdurun naasu ashtaatal-liyuraw a’maa lahum.
يَوْمَئِذٍ يَصْدُرُ النَّاسُ أَشْتَاتًا لِيُرَوْا أَعْمَالَهُمْ
6. That Day mankind will proceed in scattered groups that they may be shown their deeds.

7. Famany-ya mal misqaala zarratin khayrany-yarah.
فَمَنْ يَعْمَلْ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ خَيْرًا يَرَهُ
7. So whosoever does good equal to the weight of an atom (or a small ant), shall see it.

8. Wa many-ya ‘mal misqaala zarratin sharrany-yarah.
وَمَنْ يَعْمَلْ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ شَرًّا يَرَهُ
8. And whosoever does evil equal to the weight of an atom (or a small ant), shall see it.
