Surah Ghafir (in Arabic text: غافر) is the 40th chapter of the Qur’an. The surah titled in English means “The Forgiver” and it consists of 85 verses.
ABOUT THIS SURAH;
This Surah is about Da’wah meaning an invitation to Islam. It begins by addressing how the Qur’an is from Allah who is merciful and severe, It Warns to the non-believers and gives comfort to the believers. Verses 69-76 were revealed to provide relief to the Prophet to have patience and gives examples of those that have come before him. There is also a lesson from history about Prophet Musa (may peace be upon him) and how even the powerful Pharaoh could not be helped against the wrath of Allah (سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ).
SURAH GHAFIR AYAT 26-27
وَقَالَ فِرۡعَوۡنُ ذَرُونِيٓ أَقۡتُلۡ مُوسَىٰ وَلۡيَدۡعُ رَبَّهُۥٓۖ إِنِّيٓ أَخَافُ أَن يُبَدِّلَ دِينَكُمۡ أَوۡ أَن يُظۡهِرَ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ ٱلۡفَسَادَ
Waqala firAAawnu tharoonee aqtul moosa walyadAAu rabbahu innee akhafu an yubaddila deenakum aw an yuthhira fee alardi alfasada
And Pharaoh said, “Let me kill Moses and let him call upon his Lord. Indeed, I fear that he will change your religion or that he will cause corruption in the land.”
وَقَالَ مُوسَىٰٓ إِنِّى عُذْتُ بِرَبِّى وَرَبِّكُم مِّن كُلِّ مُتَكَبِّرٍ لَّا يُؤْمِنُ بِيَوْمِ ٱلْحِسَابِ
Waqala moosa innee AAuthtu birabbee warabbikum min kulli mutakabbirin la yuminu biyawmi alhisabi
Moses replied, “I seek refuge in my Lord and your Lord from every arrogant person who does not believe in the Day of Reckoning.”
