Wow. The day after I have a conversation with Cali, my oldest daughter about learning how to surf with me again
I get a "memory" post on Facebook from 4 years back when Cali was in love with surfing.
Being on and off couch-ridden disabled for over 2 years kept me from helping Cali become super competent at surfing.
And now, 4 years later, I'm ready to get her back on the board, and she doesn't want to.
After seeing this "memory" post of back when she was a badass in the ocean, I saw how entitled I feel to having my oldest daughter being a surfer and having a hunger for the ocean.
But the entitlement doesn't work. In fact, it distracts me from the reality I face today.
Entitlement robs me of my power to cultivate the desire I want in my relationships and create the connection my family longs for.
