Surviving a Wyoming Summer: Family Adventures, Mental Health, and Exploring Arapaho Heritage

Listen Later

Torching through a Wyoming summer, we've got a lot to share from our adventures during the sizzling 4th of July. We not only managed to survive a family wedding and a meat-smoking get-together, but also took an exhilarating trip to the Bighorns. The blistering heat is keeping us on our toes, and we're excited for the highly anticipated movie, Sound of Freedom. July is here, and we're ready to take it on, with all its highs and lows, and of course, a bit of hard work in between all the fun.

Ever wondered how the summer season can take a toll on our mental health? Our regular guest, Marcy, joins us to shed light on this very issue. Unpacking the increased stress, anxiety, depression, and body image issues that can be triggered by life changes and financial strain, we dive deep into the sometimes-overlooked challenges of the season. But fear not, it's not all doom and gloom. We also discuss practical ways to combat these hurdles and ensure we keep our health at the forefront, even during the hottest of summers.

Venturing back in time, we explore the captivating history and culture of the Arapahos, the Indigenous people of the Great Plains. From their spiritual Sundance Festival to their profound relationship with animals and the land, their stories are a testament to their resilience and strength. The narrative takes a poignant turn as we reflect on the impact of white settlers on their lives. Yet, the Arapahos have continued to endure, holding onto their traditions and cultures in the face of adversity. Join us as we take a closer look at the Arapahos of Wyoming and their incredible journey.
