Can’t Shut the Femme Up

surviving domestic violence ft. Daejanee ♡

Listen Later

The ladies have a very special guest this week for an important episode on domestic violence.

Daejanee, a best friend of Faiths, rewinds time 10 years ago to share the story of her survival after almost losing her life by the hands of her (at the time) boyfriend, the oppressor.

The women go over when and where the red flags started, how to spot out the warning signs of domestic violent relationships, and observe how abusers lure in their victims during vulnerable times of their lives. As well as the manipulation tactics that keep the victim trapped in the "toxic cycle of abuse."

Faith shares what it was like being a witness to the abuse, what she could do to help her best friend in that horrible situation. She shares what to do if someone you love is being abused, what actions to take and how to be the best support for your loved one.

Daejanee courageously shares the story of the night she was almost killed. She relives, for the listeners, what it was like to get so physically assaulted to the point where she almost lost her life and her eyesight. She describes how she finally got out of the cycle (that feels never ending) of abuse, when it was finally time to contact the police and why she waited so long to get the help she deserved to leave.

She reflects on what life and love is like after surviving her attacks, what trauma she has carried and how to prevent post traumatic stress in her current relationship. Daejanee shares her powerful message to others out there that are experiencing this widespread worldwide occurrence of domestic abuse.
