Hidden deep within the mountains, about 50 miles (80.5 km) from Pyongyang, lies Kaechon Internment Camp, better known as Camp 14. It's infamous as North Korea’s most lethal political prison and part of a vast network of labor camps.


Despite North Korea's denial of such places, satellite imagery, defector testimonies, and U.N. reports tell a different story. These political prison camps — known as kwanliso — are the black holes of the Kim Jong-un regime: prisoners enter, but almost none leave.
