Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s untimely passing has once again put the spotlight on the importance of mental health care. Celebrities including Anil Kapoor, Karan Johar, Deepika Padukone, and Anushka Sharma amongst many others have have spoken up warning of the dangers of the stigma towards mental illness. Muriel Dsa speaks to Sally about her experiences with Sushant Singh Rajput and how he spoke to her of a need for more understanding around the issue.

Asian dating site Shaadi.com has removed a skin tone descriptor after growing online backlash. The option asks those who use the site to describe their skin tone colour, as well as asking users to input the preferred skin colour of their prospective partner. 
As ongoing anti-racism protests spread worlwide, more and more South Asians are rejecting the colourism that exists within their own communities.

Shaadi.com Removes Skin Tone Filter Amid Backlash (25.06.2020)

Brothers Ya’koob and Abdulrahman Al Refaie declare themselves proudly as the Kuwaiti hip hop group Sons of Yusuf. They are both shaking and Shayking the World with their recently released first album, effortlessly blend American hiphop and Arab music singing in both Arabic and English, sampling khaleeji drums as well as lines from iconic Kuwaiti plays like Bye Bye London, and referencing Muslim and Arab cultural and historical figures. They go from stories of their grandfather the pearl diver to tales of modern microaggressions and full blown racism in the aftermath of the gulf war in the US. The result is music that speaks to a truly global audience, particularly those who have grown up between cultures and didn’t have music that spoke to every facet of their identity.
