Red Tree Crime

Suspect Tries Fooling Police GETS CAUGHT INSTANTLY

Listen Later

A man is pulled over for running a red light. The officer asks for his license. The man hands over a card. It is a library card. The officer asks again. The man hands over a gym membership. The officer asks a third time. The man hands over a photo of his dog. The officer arrests him for driving without a license. The man says he was just trying to have fun. The officer says the jail is not fun.

In this episode, I examine the many ways that suspects try to fool police and fail instantly. A woman tries to hide drugs in her bra. The drugs fall out when she walks. A man tries to hide a gun in his waistband. The gun falls down his pants leg. A teenager tries to lie about his age. His birth date is tattooed on his arm. The suspects think they are clever. They are not. Their attempts at deception are comically transparent.

The episode breaks down the psychology of suspects who believe they are smarter than the police. They are often impulsive, overconfident, and completely unaware of how stupid they look. The interrogation footage is often unintentionally hilarious. The suspect insists he is innocent while wearing a shirt that says I love crime. He offers alibis that are disproven by his own social media posts. He asks the detective for advice on how to beat the case. The detective does not laugh. But you will.

Turn down the lights, put on your headphones, and press play because the suspect who tries to fool police gets caught instantly. And it is always funny.
