At the beginning of this episode, Peter shares overhearing someone say- whatever the outcome is, if you believe that God is consistent, God is consistent. So you’re going to be fine or not fine. But the outcome of the election should not have a bearing on the nature of your God, unless He’s not a God, [correction] unless He’s not God.
“Unless He’s not a God. [correction] unless He’s not God” captures the essence of this episode’s question.
In this episode, the participants used anecdotes and metaphors tire, maybe because it’s a dicey question. It was an important question for me to ask because one of the crucial pillars of religious conflict is the question of territory. Where does your God cover? Would my prayers for you touch you, especially if they aren’t your prayers for yourself? Is my God also your God and you’re simply living in ignorance and so, doing God wrong? Is there truly enough space in the sky for my God to be my God and yours yours? If the idea of God that it is supreme, what does it mean for a thing to be supreme? I have my own personal answers on this matter but as with this entire project, these aren’t yes or no questions, this space right here is not about what is right and wrong but about knowing what we’re working with.
The conversations explored the relationship between faith, civic and personal responsibility, free will, and the nature of God's sovereignty.

The 'Does Your God Sleep?' project explores young Nigerians’ relationship with fear and God through a series of discussions with various individuals over the course of two days in 2023 (and so the contents of this podcast do not necessarily represent their current opinions). The seven episodes are a product of an event where an intimate space was designed for inquiry and reflection on spirituality and community.
