Munchkins, Power Gamers, Min Maxers, et all. That’s the topic for this Savage GM Hangout.
How and why are they created? Are the players trying to “win” roleplaying, or does it come from a need to grab the spotlight?
We start with a definition of what a munchkin is, how to recognize one. Then, take a slight detour to discuss how the ‘Munchkin Effect’: creatively using existing combat maneuvers without ever ‘optimizing’ your character in combat.
By the end of the Hangout, we come to the conclusion that munchkinism comes down to the psychology of the player and the narrative context at the table.
