Sydney Ladensohn Stern is a New York-based freelance writer who has contributed to the New York Times and many other publications. She is also the author of several books, including THE BROTHERS MANKIEWICZ: HOPE, HEARTBREAK, AND HOLLYWOOD CLASSICS, which chronicles the lives and careers of screenwriter Herman J. Mankiewicz and filmmaker Joseph L. Mankiewicz. The former of which is the subject of a new biographical film titled MANK, which follows his battles with director Orson Welles over screenplay credit for the 1941 classic, CITIZEN KANE. The movie is currently in a limited theatrical release before it debuts on Netflix on December 4th. I had the great pleasure of interviewing Sydney about all of this and more.
