Operation Shelter, a specialised police taskforce established after the Bondi terror attack, has been made a permanent 24-hour rapid response unit. Hundreds of officers armed with high-powered rifles will form the squad dedicated to targeting hate crimes. The unit will patrol and monitor threats around places of worship, transport hubs and public gatherings based on gathered intelligence.
