Happy Pride Month!
This month we're celebrating LGBT artists and icons in the music industry.
We can't believe that last week was out 10th podcast! Thank you so much to everyone who has been listening every week and sending us love and motivation to keep going through this time.
This episode we debated the Lana Del Rey controversy. If you're not sure what we're referencing then check out the instagram post here.
We also discussed Sya's debut single Dope which came out a few weeks ago! Sya spoke about the writing and production process of her newest single and teased her next single which will be out VERY soon.
Next week will be another music in context podcast - what aspect of music history would you like us to discuss? If you've not heard them year then head over the the Listen page and check out The History of Feminism in Music podcast and Women in Pop podcast.
Another music in context podcast from your favourite girls!
This episode we're talking about our favourite female pop stars over the last 50 years; Cher, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, the list goes ON! We just wanted to show some appreciation to the women who created and are breaking records before any other artist have.
Female artists are breaking the glass ceiling when it comes to pop and we can't wait to see what this next decade brings us.
Who are your favourite pop artists? Let us know over on our socials! Love x
This episode of the Cosy Corner podcast features singer-songwriter Carmen Lees. A 21 year old jazz artist based in North London.
Carmen released her debut EP ‘Living Room’ TODAY! The EP features 4 tracks, including a remix and acoustic version of her 2019 single ‘Tell Me’. Her debut single ‘Part Time’ was also played numerous times on BBC Introducing, BBC 6 Music and Reprezent Radio. It was also named track of the week on BBC Introducing Devon and Cornwall.
Her musical influences include Amy Winehouse, Tribe Called Quest and J Dilla. I personally would describe her sound as Amy Winehouse meets Slum Village, but you should make your opinion by streaming her EP now!
A brand new podcast format! We will still be hosting the Cosy Corner sessions, but we want to make our Podcast more factual and educational.
In this series we will dive in deep to the history of the female contribution towards the music industry. Our first episode 'The History of Feminism in Music' will take you on a journey from the late 1800's to now and how feminism throughout the decades has been demonstrated in the music and how the music affected society.
In this episode we analyse songs from Bessie Smith, Billie Holiday, Lesley Gore, Beyonce and more!
What are you feminist anthems? Let us know over on our socials or get in contact with us via the contact page!
