How we say what we say matters in ministry every day. When the media is on your church doorstep, that is not the time to decide who will speak on behalf of your organization and what to say. What the receptionist says to an incoming caller can either throw gas on a fire or de-escalate an explosive situation. You get to choose. Is there a time NOT to pray with someone? Is “no comment” the answer to give a media request? When can your words be used against your organization in litigation? When is texting or other communication confidential? Should an anonymous letter be dropped in the shredder? Come tidy up your communication skills and help your team do the same.
