In December 2024 when everyone thought the Arab spring in Syria was over, in just a week the long-term regime of the al-Assad dynasty collapsed and today we have a new regime in Damascus. The world and the regional powers have been extremely busy falling over themselves and meeting the new leadership. They are all demanding an inclusive government that respects the rights of minorities. Ahmed al-Shara formerly known as Abu Muhammed Joulani is now officially the President, but he rules over a country battered by decades of mis-rule and warfare and with Israel currently seizing territory.
