System Failure: When Justice looks away

Listen Later

Hi loves, welcome into Invincible Her! Trigger Warning, talk of Domestic Violence.

Today's episode is one that honestly left both of us emotionally wrecked while researching it. Because the deeper you look into abuse cases… the more terrifying the pattern becomes. Not just the abuse itself. But the way systems, institutions, money, reputation, and power often seem designed to protect abusers while survivors are left traumatized, discredited, isolated… and afraid.

We discuss the missed opportunities by law enforecment in the Gabby Petito case, the Epstein investigations and in every DV case we know or have been in, or heard about.

One of the hardest truths to accept is this:

The justice system is not always designed around protecting victims. Sometimes it's designed around protecting institutions. Protecting reputations. Protecting corporations. Protecting wealth. Protecting political connections. Protecting liability.

Women who are victims of abuse face heightened scrutiny and are more likely to be blamed for staying, courts and the system question our credibility because we stayed or didtn report, survivors often delay reporting because they're terrified.

And defense attorneys use delayed reporting against them. But trauma experts have explained for years that delayed reporting is COMMON in abuse cases. Fear delays people.

Listen in and lets discuss some of the ways we can help change something, anything fpr all abuse victims. We love you. Stay safe.
