Why do we give cheaters 2nd and 3rd chances?

Last week, we discussed why there are so many cheaters in society these days.  Why so many men and women choose to have their cakes and eat it, too.  Cheaters are cowards who want to be able to have stability at home while they flirt with potential upgrades.  Some have no intention of ever upgrading at all.

What makes a person so bold as to risk their relationship by cheating?  Not fearing that they're going to lose what they have at home is what does it.

We're a 2nd chance society.  We live to forgive and forget when it comes to anything from political scandals to bad boy/girl celebrity antics.  Should we do the same when it comes to being cheated on?  Is that what encourages cheaters to continue?  Knowing that they'll get two or three opportunities to "make it up" to their mate?
