Jesus says in the bible “As my Father has sent me, I also send you.”
God is a sender. This can be to your neighbor or someone in your hometown.
Here are some ideas on how to reach out –
CREATE/START
Garden – start a community garden
Create a welcoming front door
Start a tool sharing program “Local Tools”
Neighborhood watch program
Neighbor day is last Saturday in April
Little library
HOST
Pancake breakfast
Halloween pre party
Easter egg hunt in your yard
Neighborhood new year party
Last day of school party
Ice cream party in your front yard
Progressive dinner on your street
Neighborhood cookout., potluck, block party
Invite someone over for dinner
Backyard movie night
A monthly neighbor gathering - same time, no rsvp (drinks on your front porch every Thurs. Night at 7:00 p.m.)
Book club
Play group
Porch party
Front yard concert
Front yard dance party with bubbles
DO
Rake neighbors yard
Shovel someone’s walk
Bring in mail or water flowers for your neighbors
Take a casserole to the family getting ready for vacation, getting back or one that is sick
Take bread for new neighbors
Create block directory
Take a walk down your street, see who’s out
Give new families some take out menus wrapped up
Take flowers/veggies to your neighbors
BE ACCESSIBLE
Sit on your front porch 20 min each day making yourself accessible to neighbors
