In 2021, a coalition of national museum and library associations awarded the Peale (Baltimore, Maryland) a Communities for Immunity grant. The goal of the project is for trusted, local institutions to engage their communities in order to boost COVID-19 vaccine confidence. Since being awarded the grant, we've been gathering stories from people about their experiences with COVID and getting the vaccine.
Taco (00:00): I'm Taco. I'm 12 years old this year. We're going to go get my other sibling vaccines. I already had one on Friday, so I have to wait until it sinks into your body, and then you can get another one. They want you to space the vaccines out. They don't want you to all have them together because they don't know what would happen. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (00:21): How did you feel about getting vaccinated?
Taco (00:24): I felt really excited. My arm hurted for a little, and I could not raise my arm or do things any these moves or roll them backwards or anything. It would hurt too much. I had a little headache when I had it. My arm is still a little sore, but I feel better than I did last time.
Taco (00:44): If you do get vaccinated, just be aware that your arm will be sore for a couple of days.
Taco (00:49): ... and then it will get better over the week.
Taco (00:54): For the second shot, you will have that little headache. ... and your arm will be a little more sore, for a little more longer. So, if you guys are planning to take the second shot or first shot, just be aware your arm might be a little sore. Second shot, your head might hurt a little because of the headache of the shot.
Speaker 2 (01:08): Do you think it's worth it?
Taco (01:09): Yeah. If you want to live through this pandemic, you should take the shot.
