Summary and deeper discussion
Allah warns all to wake up and change their ways to good. There is no need for arrogance and kufr because Allah created everything and there is nothing that keeps you from being swallowed up by the earth except Allah’s mercy. Arrogance leads to destruction.
Ya quloon – “They will say” they are saying and will continue to say – this is what will be brought up repeatedly.
Mataa – When – usage in Quran – used in the Quran by the disbelievers as confrontational. Asking ‘when’ as mockery to those who bring warning. Their arrogance pushes them to ask when punishment will come!
Ha thaa – This
Wa’ad – Promise – of something that will come. Non-believers are skeptical of the promise of punishment.
When? Their question is not sincere or logical. It’s a childish challenge… look at the response to this.
Allah trained the message to respond.
“Say – there is no doubt that the knowledge (Knowledge of the day of judgement) is only with Allah and no doubt I am just a warner”
When they question, it is Allah they question, we are just warner’s.
Innama – exclusiveness
Inthaar – warning coming from genuine concern
Mubeen – clarification
Mubeen and inthaar used together means a person who warns with clarification.
e.g. Be careful of what? Need to make clear what the dangers are. VERY IMPORTANT, Take control of the discussion with a level head.
Qul – no hesitation to speak. SAY – deliver the message. Be confident
Lammaa – so when… something will happen in the future
Ra ow hoo – past tense verb (but speaking about the future??) the future tense verb has no emphasis in it (open ended – rhetorical (maybe)) but the event to happen is definite – the word confirms it.
Zulfatan – something comes near in slow steps (creep close) – like the night.
See ut – for something to be bad
Wujoo – faces (waj)
An expression of how the face looks – life, energy, vigor – the expressions of the face.
Gloomy faces – remorse, regret, anxiety, depression as if someone is being executed. (see ut wujoo)
Ungrateful! To refuse Allah’s right to be worshiped
Wa qeel – and it will be said
Allah’s mercy knows no bounds. So, we should not give up in warning.
Qul – Say
A ra aytum – Do you see? – an expression that means – Have you considered?
In ahlakaniyaAllah… – if Allah was to destroy me and those who are with me… or not, instead having mercy (life is the greatest from of Mercy from Allah – to earn from the dunya for the Aakhirah) either way who will protect the disbelievers from a most painful punishment.
Your judgement will still take place irrespective of what happens with me.
Ujeer – grant safety and protection, asylum
The reality of death is clearly presented. No one will live forever.
Allah is abundantly merciful, the believers have put their faith and trust in Allah.
Fasata’lamoon – soon you will come to know (who was in misguidance).
A manna bihi – normal grammatical sequence
We believe in Allah, we believe in what Allah has taught us to believe in (angels, nabis …)
Alayhi tawakalna – abnormal grammatical sequence ( creates exclusivity)
We ONLY put our trust in Allah (exclusively)
Disbelieve = hopelessness
Believe = mercy
Asbaha – change overnight
Water is life!!!!!
Ghawran – something that sinks deep (ghaar – cave a sunken recess)
If the water sinks down to the earth????? Unavailable –
Who will bring you water
Ma’een – water is on the surface and flows, is clean.
(opposites to emphasize kufr and disbelief)
In the end we ALWAYS put our trust in Allah.
