Yuan Bao, the new baby panda at the Taipei Zoo, met the public for the first time on Tuesday. The zoo held a banquet on Monday evening where Yuan Bao appeared to celebrate the beginning of her new public life.

On Tuesday, Yuan Bao spent most of her time sleeping, because that’s what baby pandas do. Though she was only awake for ten minutes of her first public appearance, children were still excited to see her.  How long does Yuan Bao usually sleep a day? 16 hours! One of the first lucky visitors is a woman surnamed Wang. She arrived at the zoo early so that she and daughter could take a good look at Yuan Bao. They were lucky, as they got to see her for a whole ten minutes she was awake.
