In this episode of Celestial Citizen podcast, we continue our four-part companion podcast series to our short film, “Take Up Space,” which focuses on gender discrimination and sexual harassment in the space industry.

In this second episode, titled “Dark Space,” we share experiences of women and non-binary individuals with gender discrimination, harassment, assault, and hostility in the workplace and academic settings.  This podcast episode includes sensitive topics related to sexual harassment, abuse, and sexual assault that may be triggering or traumatic for some listeners.

The speakers share heart-breaking accounts of their experiences with harassment, abuse, and assault in the workplace, and how they found ways to continue to work toward their dreams despite these obstacles and adversities.

This episode also explores the speakers’ experiences with human resources and organizational failures to address bad actors in the workplace.  Some individuals faced retaliation and were forced to leave their jobs, while others had to continue to deal with a hostile work environment.

The podcast sheds light on the current climate for gender minorities in a male-dominated industry and emphasizes the need for creating an inclusive environment to make humanity's future in space more diverse and equitable.
