11-year-old Carlie Brucia was walking home from a friend’s house on Sunday, February 1, 2004. This Sunday happened to be Super Bowl Sunday, and the usually busy streets of Sarasota were pretty much deserted. Most people were indoors watching the big game. Carlie took a shortcut through the back of a car wash, where she encountered a predator, and never made it home.
