I live in a little town in northern New Mexico. I have had a patron in Montana that has bought several artworks over the years. Recently she saw a sculpture of a wooden horse I created and wanted me to deliver it to her, near Missoula, Montana. She is one of my family members, and I thought if I went there, I might as well go on to eastern Oregon and visit my last two remaining older brothers. At 80 years old, I decided it would probably be my last big road trip, through some of the West I had never traveled. Also, after doing a radio show in Madrid, New Mexico, I decided, it was time stop radio for a while, and explore the avenues of doing a podcast, just talking about being on the road, describing the vacant lands of the 7 states I would be travelling through and just let my thoughts take me back to the past and visions of the future. It also occurred to me it was very odd to be taking a Horse to Montana, like taking sand to the beach. It was only after I was on the road, I saw the irony of me returning to a dream I had as a teenager of riding a horse from Oregon, that was a mustang, originally caught in Montana. This is the first episode of over 6 hours of me talking to myself, behind the wheel of an old car with nearly 200,000 miles on it and wondering if I would actually get there and back. 3,500 miles, and 12 days later, I got back to my home in Cerrillos, New Mexico
